A full week of yoga and meditation at YogaSpirit.
If you have read my earlier blogpost, you will know that I have been participating in YogaSpirit‘s three week meditation challenge. After doing Bikram tonight at 5:30pm, I have officially completed week one!
In this blogpost, I want to explore if I have noticed any subtle changes after doing one full week of yoga asana and meditation. I was inspired to do this after Nina gave me a link to this very interesting article on how making a little change to your daily routine can help you change unwanted habits. Although I do already have a ‘regular’ yoga and meditation routine, I have struggled to keep up a daily practice. Because I am prone to anxiety, I have observed that I need daily yoga and meditation to help me calm down. After this week, I’ve seen a shift in the way I perceive stressors in my life. I’m learning to ‘be’ with my anxiety, rather than ‘anxiously’ trying to control it. To help explain this further, I found this quote by C.S. Lewis:
“It’s not the load that breaks you down. It’s the way you carry it.”
I definitely feel that yoga and meditation makes me stronger and wiser, which in turn, teaches me new and more effective ways to deal with stressors in life.
