Teach yourself

December 10, 2009

As we head into our fun and exciting festive season we often find many yoga studios closing over this period as many students go on holiday. Students often comment on the fact that if studios close that their own personal practice will suffer and disappear as they don’t know what they should be doing at home, that they don’t have inspiration or time – this unfortunately very often leads to their own yoga practice coming to a complete halt.

As I was reading this afternoon I came across the following quote by Swami Vivekananda which I thought I would share with you, “No one is ever really taught by another; each of us has to teach himself. The eternal teacher offers only suggestion, which arouses the internal teacher, who helps us to understand things.”

I challenge all of you to find and listen to your own internal teacher and to keep your own personal yoga practice going while on holiday, away or at home. And if you need a little inspiration, be sure to pull out one of your past YAA magazines and follow a sequence from there! So no excuses 🙂
