What’s Hot this June 2010???

June 1, 2010

An ancient Egyptian aesthetic with a contemporary twist can be found in the Thebes Day Bed. The yogic meditation bed is superbly comfortable, with an ergonomically designed neck rest which instantly de-stresses and stills the mind.  As nerve endings at the base of the skull and upper spine are triggered to induce release, the head rest is specifically designed to open the chest which encourages deep, even breathing. The plush leather upholstery certainly helps too!

The Thebes bed is priced at R17,550 and can be custom-made to specific finishes and ordered directly from the workshop in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa.

The idea for Rich & Creamy: Yummy Stuff* sprouted from our desire to collaborate our creative talents, our love of yoga and our joy in all of the beautiful things this world has to offer. From this inspiration we create goodies that we love in irresistible fabrics and mouthwatering colours.  As well as teaching yoga at Lotus Studio in Knysna, Nicki is a fashion and textile designer and Charlotte works in multimedia collage. Prayer flags were our first effort and the combination of cheery bright colors, African shweshwe fabrics and Indian prints combines all the things we love into these joyful banners.

We apply our prayer flag motif to our “Third Eye” eye pillows, “Divine Musings” meditation books, door hangings and yoga accessories. Since we want you to feel as special as we do when we have created something unique, our products are all one-of-a-kind and made on a limited basis.

For more information call Charlotte on 072 3205988, Nicki on 083 4101320 or email yoga@lotusstudio.co.za.

What is Callanetics?

Callanetics is a highly effective non-impact exercise programme, which isolates muscle groups by using small, precise, powerful three-dimensional movements, which develop long, lean looking muscles.  It focuses on lengthening the spine and correct activating of the pelvic floor. Callanetics is an intelligent form of exercise, focusing on deep muscle work, there is no bouncing or jarring found in high impact activity and the first results are visible fast – often after only 3-4 classes.  SA Callanetics is taught in small classes of no more than 12 participants so everyone receives individual attention and all levels of ability can be accommodated. www.ctasa.org.za
