Yoga Nidra – Radiance

Prepare yourself for Yoga Nidra. Assume the most comfortable relaxation position as possible ensuring any and all accommodations are made to facilitate neck, shoulders and back conditions, then making final adjustments to the body and pose in order to remain as still as possible. Let go of the whole body; relax the body to breathe and breathe to relax. Allow your conscious awareness to be drawn inwards to your breath – the essential life force of your entire existence. Switch off the chatter of your mind that is your thoughts and tune into the stillness that is the silent observation of your breath.

Feel, sense or perceive that you are lying on a beach with beautiful, white, soft sand and palm trees scattered picturesquely around you. Hear the mesmerizing sound of the gentle waves splashing on the shore and feel the warm glow of the nurturing sun radiating down on you. Mindfully feel the sensation of this radiant energy that is the glorious sunshine seep into your pores, allowing the healing Shakti to provide complete cellular revitalization, alleviating any and all ailments and dispelling any negative sensations that may reside within.

Let this glowing energy dissipate all toxins whether physical, mental or emotional. Begin to be aware of a positive transformation from within that radiates healing, emanates warmth and exudes love for yourself and for all that exists in creation. Savour this warm sensation of bliss – Feel it; Sense it; be Present with it.

Keep your awareness on your breath, slowly bring yourself out of your relaxation position by making gentle and subtle movements of the head, the fingers, the toes, feeling the re-awakening sensations move through the whole body. Deepening the in breath to increase the oxygen level to the brain, releasing and relaxing through the out breath. Maintaining this sense of stillness, of radiance, bring yourself into a comfortable seated asana to close the Yoga Nidra session. Take a few moments to be still…..

During times when you find you may need more strength, remember to acknowledge that place of radiance that resides within you and let your Light guide your way.
