Bikram Visiting South Africa April 2011!

April 4, 2011

Bikram Yoga Fourways invites you to be a part of this bespoke seminar, taking place at Monte Casino on the 6th April 2011. This will be the first time such an honorable Yoga Master will be setting foot on the African continent and hosting the first ever Bikram Yoga Seminar of this magnitude. An opportunity not to be missed.

Bikram Yoga is a unique form of yoga that is practiced in a heated room to 40 degrees with a set sequence of 26 postures, including

two breathing exercises. The heat allows for safe and deep stretching while simultaneously flushing and detoxifying every single system of the body, from bones to skin, inside out.

The benefits of practicing Bikram Yoga is that it aids in relieving stress and tension, strengthening and toning muscles, regulating body weight, increasing blood circulation, preventing chronic diseases and limiting the effects of aging, with the intention of restoring the body to its natural health. A form of exercise that everyone should be doing in today’s stressful society. Classes are

suitable for all levels of fitness and experience and even more so for the beginner practitioner. As Bikram says, “it’s never too late, it’s never too bad, you’re never too old, you’re never too sick to start from scratch once again, to be born once again.”

There are over 600 studios worldwide and has been practiced for over 30 years. There are three certified Bikram Yoga Studios in Johannesburg and three Studios in Cape Town that teach Bikram Yoga. These studios have been operating very successfully for over seven years. Among the students of Bikram Yoga, British tennis star Andy Murray, who admitted that his win against Roger Federer

in the grueling  heat at the Dubai Open, had been largely down to the physical and mental agility he had gained through Bikram yoga. Of his fitness secret he said, “Bikram Yoga has been great in helping me get fit and preparing for the on‐court heat.” A number of celebs have already taken up this now fashionable means of keeping fit. Stars such as George Clooney, Daniel Craig, Shirley MacLaine, Ted Kennedy, President Clinton, Fernando Lamas, Indira Gandhi, Mariel Hemingway, Lady Gaga and Elle McPherson have all been spotted posing in 40ºC heat.

Our aim and mission of this seminar is to introduce this form of yoga to as many people as possible and to allow them the opportunity and gift to experience good health. During the seminar, Bikram will be discussing the benefits of Bikram Yoga, yoga in general and his life philosophies.

This will be the first time that an honorable Yoga Master will be setting foot on the African continent and hosting the first ever Bikram Yoga Seminar and class of this magnitude. This is an opportunity not to be missed. Bikram Yoga Fourways invites you to be a part of this bespoke seminar.
