May 2, 2011
Carla Pinheiro.
In 1983 Carla started practising Hatha yoga. In 1997, Carla’s yearning to learn more about the philosophy of yoga, led her to attend a one year Teacher’s Yoga Training Course at Ananda Kutir Ashram in Rondebosch East. On completion of the Teacher’s training, Carla opened her own yoga studio in Oranjezicht, “Yoga by Candlelight”, where she and other Instructors taught classes for every level of students. In addition, Carla also started teaching Children and held workshops on different modalities of Yoga and Ayurveda.
Carla continued to deepen her knowledge of yoga, practically and theoretically, and since 2001 has been a Remedial Yoga Therapy Teacher as well as an Ayurvedic Counsellor, registered with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa. This is a 4 year part-time course.  She is thus qualified to treat people with skeletal problems and a general spectrum of ailments such as insomnia, eating disorders, high and low blood pressure, irritable bowel syndrome and many others.
Carla has gone to India on three occasions, mainly to Rishikesh, “the yoga capital of the world”, to deepen her practice and her knowledge with various Yoga Masters.
Carla has contributed to various articles in the “Renaissance” magazine and also wrote an article in “Cape etc.” relating to Children’s yoga. One of her Children’s classes was photographed by a professional German Photographer and published in a German Magazine.E-mail:

Vanessa Pensato.

Vanessa was born and raised in Munich, Germany, but her roots are also grounded in the South of Italy where her Dad grew up. Vanessa began her Yoga practice in 2002, just about at the same time when she started her job as an area manager in the fashion industry.
After experimenting with different Yoga Styles, the most inspiring for her are the teachings of Integral Yoga by Sri Swami Sivananda. Yoga balanced her stressful life, always helped her to re-connect with her inner self and her inner voice – which is responsible for her 360° life change in 2009.
Vanessa quit her job in the fashion industry in March 2009 to dedicate her life fully to her passion of Yoga: She completed the „Yoga Teacher Training Course“in Vrindavan, India, with the Sivananda Forest & Vedanta Academy and moved to Cape Town in November 2009, where she teaches Yoga in several centers as well as at the Ananda Kutir Ashrama in Rondebosch. In her classes she always strives to create a perfect balance of Pranayama, Asanas, Relaxation and also Meditation for her students.
Besides being a Yoga Teacher, Vanessa is also a Shiatsu Therapist and takes regular further trainings in various other directions. Another big part of her life is her charity work at the Ananda Kutir Outreach Project.

Deevya Vasson.
Deevya is a qualified Hatha yoga instructor, trained at THE CENTRE YOGA AND MEDITATION, a yoga alliance accredited institution. Her journey with yoga started as a child, practicing asanas (postures) with her mom, an avid yogi.
After practicing yoga for six years, Deevya was inspired to get her teacher training qualification. She teaches her classes the way she lives her life – with grace and connection to spirit. She feels that people are unnecessarily stressed out in their daily lives and just need to be given the tools to “stay centred throughout the madness.” Her classes are a comforting retreat away from it all where you’ll learn to just let go, breathe and connect with yourself through movement and in stillness. In true Hatha Yoga style you can expect a balance of a good workout with a range of postures followed by much needed relaxation techniques. All levels welcome.
