1: Relaxing into Meditation by Ngakma Nor’dzin.

What exercises and practices will help us to live a life free of stress? Ngakma Nor’dzin, a Western Buddhist Lama, guides us through relaxation and breathing exercises that lead into meditation. The meditation methods are described in friendly and accessible language and will enhance the lives of those who practise them. Ngakma Nor’dzin regards meditation as a life skill that creates happier and more fulfilling relationships and increases well-being and psychological health. Relaxing into Meditation draws on her experience teaching in community education. Ngakma Nor’dzin teaches internationally and is also the author of Spacious Passion, an introduction to Buddhist practice.

Reviewed by Gary Stone – Relaxing into Meditation by Ngakma Nor’dzin takes one on a journey through a myriad of simple and more complicated meditation techniques. Using this reference on our yoga and meditation holidays in Spain, I found the various groups wanting to dip into the book to find relevant and pertinent exercises to suit their differing needs.

Well planned and obviously written with tremendous authority, the book always keeps the end user in mind, not using high-level language to confuse the reader.

Each meditation technique combines an actual reference to classes, in which the students have practiced these methods. I am currently working my way carefully through all these techniques, gradually making use of the simple but clear line drawings, which help with postures and styles.Wherever you are on your meditation journey you will find this book a constant companion allowing you to discover many enjoyable and informative methods.

An easy to digest guide to meditative practices for calming the mind, nurturing creativity, rejuvenating the spirit, and nourishing the soul. Having read it many times now, I highly recommend this publication for novice to advanced meditators alike. I have used the book when delivering my taster sessions to meditation in our yoga breaks in Spain having great success in the process.

2: Practising Yoga.

Practising Yoga: harmony, lifestyle, peace, asanas, chakras & relaxation.

This mini-pocket paperback book is a great little introduction to Hatha Yoga.

Description: From its Indian origins as far back as 4000 years ago, yoga has been continually practised, but it is only in the present century that it has become more widespread. Yoga can be of benefit to all those who are physically able, provided that they have determination and patience. People with stress and disorder in their lives can have peace and harmony if they allow themselves time to practice yoga.

Practising Yoga explains the origins and philosophy of yoga and shows, with concise instructions and clear illustrations, how yoga can be introduced and be of benefit in your life.
