Good Travel Remedies for India

February 8, 2012

Since I’m off to India today, I thought I would share with all of you an article Pritam Kaur Khalsa wrote on preparing your insides for India… Should you be travelling sometime soon, be sure to stock up on the below…

Two afflictions strike a traveler with greater vehemence than anywhere else. You don’t have to loose out on your adventure holiday! Protect yourself by taking adequate remedies along. If you don’t take the right remedies, you may end up spending some of your precious time there in bed.

TUMMY BUG – also known as Delhi Belly or Calcutta Splutter. It is a diarrhea, induced by Giardia bacteria.

What to do:

Take medicinal charcoal, either by NATURMADE, 4 tablets 3 x a day, or by NATURE’S CHOICE 1/3 ts powder 3 x day, or by TRACEMATE, 1 knife tip full 3 – 4 x a day. Latter product will clear the ‘sick’ feeling and alkalinize the system nearly immediately. At the same time, take VIRIDIAN or AMIPRO CITRICIDAL, (this is a specific for killing Giardia): 2 caps 3 x a day and OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT or GOLDEN SEAL, 4 caps a day.

Prevention for Giardia: Two weeks prior to going to India, try and include up to ½ a raw onion a day. It conditions your digestive system and gives you immunity. In India, try and have some green chilli and raw onion every day. Drink water from genuinely sealed water bottles. Wash your hands often. Take 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide in a small dropper bottle, (vent it occasionally if it looks like pressure builds up in it from the oxygen). You can buy fresh fruit, (you WILL feel better and fresh from eating fresh items). Produce that you can’t peel, immerse in warm water in your hotel room sink and add a good sprinkling of hydrogen peroxide. Let soak for a few moments.

RESPIRATORY COMPLAINTS

India has a lot of environmental pollution, add to that plenty bacteria from poor hygiene conditions and you can get very congested. Don’t suffer – be prepared! SOLGAR’S ECHINACEA GOLDEN SEAL CAT’S CLAW is very strong: take 2 – 3 caps 3 x a day and you’ll be sure to be a bug terminator.

Also take a bottle of TEA TREE OIL: if you have any small cuts or grazes you can quickly disinfect them and prevent infection.

OTHER USEFUL ITEMS:

A small vacuum flask and an immersion heater, from VENTURES FOR AFRICA, Cresta Shopping Centre (011)476-1517), a peeler knife

Nuts & Raisins

Health Bars

Psyllium husks to keep you regular, or ground flax seed which will also give you protein

Bottle of honey and some jasmine tea bags or the like
