Award-winning Cape Town child care NGO Home From Home has teamed up with YogaWay Yoga and Pilates Studio in Newlands to raise funds to run one of their homes in Westlake in the Southern Peninsula.

Thirty participants, both experienced and those newer to yoga, will take part in the Yoga Challenge for the first 30 days of August and aim to raise R3,000 each in order to meet the fundraising target of R90,000.

YogaWay founder and teacher Melissa Brake will handle the weekday classes, while special guest teachers will lead classes over weekends. Other studios will be also taking part and offering classes during this month.

Home From Home development director Pippa Shaper says they have already had interest from yoga enthusiasts both locally and abroad. “We are hoping that yogis from other areas of the country and the world will join us in this initiative and take yoga off the mat and into communities.”

Those wishing to join can contact Shaper on to get a list of participating studios in and around Cape Town. Participants can also do classes elsewhere, or even at home, as long as an instructor or witness signs their Challenge Card.
