60 Yogis strike a pose to raise funds for new foster home, Home from Home

September 1, 2012

Award-winning Cape Town child care NGO, Home from Home, is thrilled to announce that its 30-Day Yoga Challenge has attracted the support of 60 local and international yoga enthusiasts.

Pippa Shaper, Development Director of Home from Home, says the support they have received this year has been tremendous. “Thanks to the generous assistance of the public and various yoga studios, such as Yogaway in Newlands, Sunset Beach in Milnerton and Virgin Active in Claremont, participation in this year’s Yoga Challenge has exceeded all expectations. In 2011 we raised significantly more funds than our target of R90 000, with the participation of 30 yogis. This year, with double the number of participants, we again hope to meet and even exceed our fundraising target in support of the new home in Westlake.”

The purpose of the 30-Day Yoga Challenge is to raise funds for Home from Home’s newest foster family in the Westlake area in Cape Town’s Southern Peninsula. The NGO takes care of more than 170 children in 26 homes around the Western Cape through a cluster foster care scheme, whereby groups of up to six children are taken into supervised foster care in their own communities. This helps to create happy, safe homes for children who need protection and a stable home environment.

To celebrate the end of the Yoga Challenge, Yogaway owner and teacher Melissa Brake and Sunset Beach owner and teacher Yvonne de Kock will led a final yoga session for all participants on Sunday, 26 August at the Vineyard Hotel & Spa’s Splash Café in Newlands.

Greetings! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My website looks weird when viewing from my iphone4. I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able
to correct this problem. If you have any suggestions, please share.

    Appreciate it!
