7. Who have you trained with and where?

I trained with Karam Kriya in London.  The head of the school is Shiv Sharan Singh.

8. What lead you to teaching yoga and at what point did you decide that you wanted to teach?

I started Kundalini Yoga in early 2009.  Six months later I was attending a Vipassana retreat and I asked my higher consciousness what I could do to make sure I would always be self-reliant. The message came through loud and clear to teach Kundalini Yoga.

9. What do you love most about teaching?

I love being of service to other human beings most of all.  I feel so blessed that I have had the opportunity in this life to do this work for others.  In helping others to heal I am healing myself.

10. Is there a focus in your teaching style?

I focus my teaching on self-awareness and self-development.  I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist with a background in Psychotherapy and so I use the technology of Kundalini Yoga to help people to adjust and polish their minds for spiritual development. This is achieved with targeted asana, meditation and mantra.

11. What do you love most about yoga?

Yoga always brings me back into a state of balance and connection with the cosmic flow of Dhamma.  In this day and age, especially in the Western world, it is a challenge to remain centered, calm and compassionate towards others at all times.  Yoga, (especially Kundalini Yoga,) is the ideal daily practice to maintain this state of consciousness throughout any situation.

12. What is the greatest challenge you have overcome with the help of yoga?

Like many other people, I grew up with great resentment and pain in my heart towards my parents for many things that had happened in the past.  I went to different kinds of therapy and tried many approaches of working on my issues.  Frustratingly, nothing really seemed to help me to clear those blockages, no matter how hard I tried. It was Kundalini Yoga that really began to help me to shift the blockages I was hanging onto. Especially related to my relationship with my parents.

13. What advice do you have for people who have never tried yoga?

I would recommend that they try a few different practices so they can assess which one is the right one for them. Some people need a practice that is more physical, which will keep them strong and grounded.  Others need a practice that is more meditative and which will give them a great sense of peace with a steady mind.  Yet others will respond much better to a practice where they can sing and chant to beautiful music with mantras that feed their soul and make them glow from inside.  No two paths can be the same, and yet everyone is heading in the same direction. That is the true beauty of yoga. There are so many different types to choose from and yet only the individual can know for sure what feels right for them.

14. Do you have a regular practice?

Yes, I do meditate and chant everyday no matter where I might be. I travel a lot and so I make sure I do yoga or at least move my body in some way every day.

15. Favourite Asana.

Anything that Opens the Heart, (Camel, Cobra, Bridge, Wheel).

16. Strongest Asana?

Shoulder stand.

17. Any religious affiliations?

No.

18. What are your other interests?

I am a musician and composer, and I am also a therapist.  Hence, I have just released a new mantra album, “Uplifting Mantras for You”, which utilizes Sanskrit mantras for self-development and personal growth and yet are presented in an accessible way for Westerners.

19. Any Thank Yous?

I am thankful to the universal force that enabled me to incarnate in this form.  I feel it is a great privilege to be alive at this time and to be instrumental in helping others to realize their destiny.
